Cindy's Job At The Birch Street Nursing Home
Yesterday after school I went to the store and bought new drapes and a fresh can of yellow paint for the Birch Street Nursing Home. Mr. Richards had given me a good idea of the drapes he wanted, and this morning when he saw what I'd picked out, he told me I had a great eye for fabrics and color. He said he needed only one other person to help him hang the drapes in the activity room, and he chose Mr. Volkov. He put the rest of the patients to work painting the walls in the nurses' office. When I went in to check on their progress, I saw that Mrs. Henley was taking a break, and having a little snack. She said she found a bag of chocolate bars in the head nurse's desk, and figured the nurses wouldn't mind if just one went missing. The other patients were hard at work, and had just one wall left to paint. I grabbed a paintbrush and joined them, and we finished the job with enough time left over for a hand of poker before the patients went to bed.
